Santa Maria Park

Integrating landscape and architecture as a distinct entrance into the Panama business locale

Project Facts

Location Panama City, Panama
Owner Grupo Verde Azul
Size 60,000 Square Meters

Overview

The entrance of the Plaza Santa Maria is a journey of layering planes from the street to the seven-story mixed-use building in the Santa Maria Business District of Panama City. A truly sustainable design, it integrates unique variations in topography to enhance the landscape architecture. The project provided 14,000 square meters of office lease space, ground-level retail, and four levels of underground parking ideal for the urban lifestyle.

The area of the Santa Maria Park building is nicely landscaped with paved walkways.

About the Project

Located in the Santa Maria Business District, this seven-story reinforced concrete mixed-use building provides 14,000 square meters of office lease space, retail on the ground level, and four levels of underground parking. A large green area on the plaza, restaurants on the terrace level, and large public spaces make Santa Maria Park an inviting place for tenants and visitors. Shallow post-tensioned flat slabs were used in the office floors to minimize floor-to-floor height to accommodate the seven levels in the 40-meter building height limit imposed by the Santa Maria Business District. To meet the project’s aggressive schedule, Walter P Moore issued an early retention system and foundation package to begin construction while the superstructure was being designed.
