About the Project

Walter P Moore served as the project’s construction engineer for the reinforcement supplier and general contractor. Our innovative approach allowed us to fast-track the reinforcement construction drawings, departing from the typical time-consuming shop drawing process.

We accomplished this with a comprehensive, high-fidelity 3D model covering all the necessary reinforcement for the foundation project, including all embedded concrete elements, with particular emphasis on integrating column and wall reinforcement into the model. This approach resulted in an early start for the construction of the hotel’s foundations.

Despite the challenges presented by the site’s constraints and proximity to the bustling airport, the project team collaborated to create a unique blend of aviation technology and hospitality, ensuring the success of this iconic building.

The Grand Hyatt features a Zero Net Energy-capable design that is currently 26 percent more energy-efficient than a standard hotel, with the added benefit of generating 133,000 kWh of energy annually through roof-mounted photovoltaic panels.

The development’s commitment to sustainability extends to water conservation efforts, with the property implementing water-efficient systems, state-of-the-art cooling towers, efficient flush toilets, low-flow faucets, and showerheads, as well as Energy Star-rated ice machines. The hotel upholds its eco-friendly ethos through the utilization of regionally sourced building materials, recycled content in construction and furniture, and various other sustainable practices.
