About the Project
This 23 story cast-in-place concrete office and podium garage totals approximately 880,000 gross square feet on a prominent site along Loop 610 that overlooks Memorial Park to the east and Uptown Houston’s street scape to the west. Amegy’s previous Houston headquarters space is in Five Post Oak, a distinctive office tower near Uptown. Walter P Moore structurally designed that tower in 1982 in the height of Houston’s building boom, so our relationship has now come full circle with this new tower.
Rotated Elevator Core
Within the tower are 9 levels of parking with an 8 story podium extension providing 1,160 parking spaces. The mechanical penthouse and building maintenance unit at the top of the tower are concealed by cladding supported by a sloped steel ‘crown’ which peaks at 70-0” above the roof level. The uniquely rotated elevator core that is oriented 45 degrees from the grid of the almost square building and cantilevered beams at each tower corner allows for ideal corner office views. Walter P Moore also designed the building to support a 3 story tall cable net wall at the main lobby to create a striking entrance experience for patrons.
