Experience

Matthew is the General Counsel, and a Senior Principal, of Walter P Moore, where he began his professional career as a Graduate Engineer in 1999. After working in the firm’s Houston and Austin offices through 2004, Matthew earned 12 years of law firm and in-house legal experience, focusing on construction law, commercial and insurance litigation, and municipal law.  He counsels and represents Walter P Moore and its affiliates and their employees on a broad range of legal and other issues and participates in leadership of the firm’s risk management functions.

A licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, Michigan, and Washington, Matthew earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan, his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas, and his juris doctor degree with high honors in law from the University of Washington. 

He is admitted to practice law in Michigan and Texas, is a past president of the Structural Engineers Association of Michigan and has published a number of articles and is a frequent speaker on topics related to construction and engineering law.
