After almost 20 years of serving clients in their current space, Walter P Moore’s Kansas City office has made the decision to relocate to Town Pavilion — a mixed-use project which includes a 34-story office tower in downtown Kansas City. Civil Managing Director Dan Brown says, “This move reaffirms our long-term commitment to being a part of the growth in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and specifically downtown.”
Collaboration is Key
Officing out of the second-tallest building in Kansas City and steps away from the Power & Light Entertainment District certainly boasts its advantages. “The views from our new space are amazing. Not only can you see most of downtown, but also the Crossroads Arts District, Crown Center District, and other exciting area destinations,” Brown adds.
Walter P Moore team members will also benefit from updated work stations and additional space dedicated to impromptu meeting and digital teamwork. “The elements of modern design have changed considerably in the last two decades and the new space will allow better collaboration and communication with our both clients and our staff,” says Cliff Greenlief, Managing Director for Kansas City Structures. “The move is a breath of fresh inspiration for our staff.”
Designed with multiple levels of collaboration in mind, the space includes small, informal standing meeting spaces, five-chair huddle rooms, as well as a full-size flexible conference and learning space that accommodates up to 50 attendees. Diagnostics Managing Director David Ford adds, “Our additional space and capabilities will help us continue to work across groups as a cohesive team and allow for faster collaboration.”
While the Kansas City office has always enjoyed a healthy dynamic between their practice areas — Civil, Traffic, Structural, and Diagnostics — they were separated across two floors. “The Town Pavilion space allows us all to be on the same floor in a contiguous space, where we can more easily exchange ideas and coordinate efforts,” says Greenlief.
The Cutting Edge
Still located on the streetcar line, and with easy access to the city’s most famous asset — barbecue, the Kansas City office provides clients with several outstanding amenities as well. “We will actually be closer to many clients while maintaining a direct link to the transportation and social hub of downtown,” says Ford. “Clients can expect to see state-of-the-art technology including ‘smart’ conference rooms and in-house VR technology.”
By carefully selecting their new downtown location, team members will be able to easily access clients in the northland, on the Kansas side, as well as the south and east portions of the metro. Greenlief adds, “We owe it to our staff and clients to provide a workplace that is as exciting and fresh as the projects we create!”
