Overview
Three Walter P Moore projects were announced as American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Texas award winners! The 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards will be celebrated in April 2021 in Austin, Texas.
In Category C: Structural Systems, Bank of America Tower received a Gold Medal award. This award-winning office tower was the first project in the United States to receive LEED v4 C + S Platinum certification.
Boy Scouts of America’s Camp Strake also received a Gold Medal award in Category I: Special Projects. The project team’s use of digital workflows and LiDAR survey technology allowed them to maintain an authentic nature experience within the campsite.
Additionally, in Category G: Water Resources, the Clay Family Eastern Glades at Houston’s Memorial Park received a Silver Medal award. The Eastern Glades add an additional 30 acres of accessible land to the 113-acre park.
A distinguished panel of judges from around the state selected 9 Gold Medal and 8 Silver Medal-winning projects from 37 entries based on uniqueness, originality, technical, value to the engineering profession, complexity, and how successfully the project met the needs of the client.
