Overview

The nation’s largest BMX bike park opened Friday. Recently named Rockstar Energy Bike Park (formerly North Houston Bike Park), the new $25 million bike park opened August 16, 2019 with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Houston Sports Authority CEO Janis Burke, and Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority’s Director Sally Bradford, among others. Located at 12257 Kuykendahl Road, the new bike park sits adjacent to the country’s largest skateboard park — the $6 million North Houston Skate Park, completed in 2014.

Walter P Moore provided Civil Engineering and Water Resources Engineering services for the vast 30-acre complex, which features a USA BMX-sanctioned track, competition bowls, multiskill trails, bike skill areas, tot track, bowl riding, a performance pavilion that seats 3,500, and bayou walking trails. The park is also designed for children of all types of abilities and is almost entirely wheelchair accessible, except for the race track. Rockstar Energy Park will host the 2020 UCL BMX World Championships next May.
