Overview
The 2017 Neighborhood Streets Reconstruction Program has claimed its third accolade—a 2019 ACEC of Kansas Engineering Excellence Award in the Transportation category.
Walter P Moore served as the civil engineer and lead design consultant for the project, providing overall project management and design of roadway improvements, upgraded storm sewer systems, traffic control systems, sidewalks, driveways, and necessary appurtenances.
The primary goal of this project was to improve vehicle and pedestrian facilities which had reached the end of their useful life. The improvements included a 28’ wide curbed concrete street section with LED street lights, driveway approaches, sidewalks on both sides of the street, and storm sewer system upgrades. The parking lot at Sapling Grove Park was also reconstructed ahead of new park amenities being installed. was also reconstructed ahead of new park amenities being installed.
