Overview
The 55-story Financial Center Tower opened earlier this year, creating a new architectural icon in central Panama City. The tower, which boasts an extremely slender 8.5 to 1 aspect ratio, was developed by Desarrollo Bahia. Walter P Moore served as consulting structural engineer, recommending key improvements to the structural design throughout construction, eventually saving the developer more than USD$1,25M. By eliminating expensive and intrusive outriggers, the firm was able to reduce the building height by three floors without any change in leasable space.
