Overview
The United States Women’s national soccer team continues their quest for a third World Cup championship at the Walter P Moore-designed Investor’s Group Field in Manitoba, Canada (also referenced as Winnipeg Stadium). Kickoff for the USA vs. Sweden is set for 8:00 pm (ET) tonight and can be seen on Fox Sports.
As part of the design-build team, Walter P Moore served as engineer of record for the roof canopy. Spanning 188m (616ft), the tri-chord arch truss with sinusoidal curved roof below (try saying that 5 times fast) keeps fans protected and their noise/energy bounding back down to the pitch.
Walter P Moore also redesigned the steel bowl, which simplified erection and reduced the steel tonnage by 25% from the original design. Opened in 2013 and seating over 33,000 fans, Investors Group Field is one of six host stadiums for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Investors Group Field is one of more than 90 projects Walter P Moore has completed in Canada. We are also serving as the structural engineer of record for the new Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan — the future home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders — scheduled to open in 2017.
