Overview
The American Council of Engineering Companies celebrates engineering firms’ proudest projects that exemplify innovation, complexity, achievement, and value by winning an Engineering Excellence Award.
Congratulations to the following Walter P Moore projects that were honored with a state award in their respective chapters.
California
Intuit Dome | 2025 ACEC California Honor Award
Intuit Dome, home to the Los Angeles Clippers, is an iconic symbol in Southern California. As the crown jewel of a 26-acre sports complex, this state-of-the-art venue is redefining the fan experience. This 18,000-seat arena stands out in both design and sustainability. Intuit Dome represents engineering at its finest, featuring a diagrid shell roof that mirrors a basketball net, seismic innovations for enhanced safety, and cutting-edge environmental features. Intuit Dome features the Halo Board, a groundbreaking 360-degree videoboard nearly an acre in size, with the largest double-sided ring of LED displays in an arena. This innovative design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also creates an unparalleled experience for fans.

Texas
TMC3 Collaborative Building | 2025 ACEC Texas Gold Medal Award
Nestled in the main Texas Medical Center Campus, the TMC3 Collaborative Research Building is a five-story, 250,000-SF facility designed to accommodate retail, office, and laboratory spaces. As the centerpiece of Helix Park, the building exemplifies cutting-edge innovation, design, and collaboration, setting a new standard for healthcare research. Precision engineering, executed in coordination with Martinez Moore Engineers, played a key role in shaping the building’s structural design, including the striking atrium with its monumental stair. The atrium glass skylight floods the space with natural light, enhancing the open and inviting atmosphere. The exterior features a curtainwall system that steps back at each level, creating garden roofs that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetic appeal.

Missouri
F&M Bank Arena | 2025 ACEC Missouri Grand Award
Located in downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the F&M Bank Arena is a 5,500-seat venue that hosts concerts, sporting events, and community activities. It features two ice sheets for youth hockey and public skating and serves as the home court for Austin Peay University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, enhancing their facilities and recruitment efforts. The arena also offers a versatile event space designed to accommodate banquets, conventions, trade shows, and a wide range of other events.

Georgia
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital | 2025 ACEC Georgia Honor Award
The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital marks the largest expansion in the healthcare system’s history. The 19-story hospital and adjoining Clinic Building are located on the 70-acre North Druid Hills campus, which also features the Center for Advanced Pediatrics, a Central Utility Plant, and additional support facilities. Another key innovation was the minimal number of shear walls for the building, which our team achieved through optimization and advanced structural analysis, including shrinkage and thermal studies, along with the strategic use of temporary joints. The 5-story, 450’x300’ D&T podium was designed to “lean on” the main tower structure for lateral stability.
