Synopsis
This case study identifies key similarities and differences between various drainage features, while making rational assumptions. An area within Chambers County, that is predominantly flat was selected for this study. This presentation will highlight the critical reasons for similarities, as well as the differences seen in the results within HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, and HEC-HMS, and will aim to rationalize the inner workings and configurations of each model.
Learning Objectives
The objective is to identify key areas of strengths and possible limitations between the three software types to evaluate the applicability to reflect physical conditions. The three approaches have varied levels of complexity and this study will also highlight the time and effort required to produce the final output. The objective is to identify if the additional effort within a complex model generates significantly different results.
The key takeaway within each of the software is to identify the best approach to implement a project.
