Synopsis
Communities in Texas experienced explosive growth during the 1950s and 1960s. Many of these communities have drainage infrastructure that is undersized for the present-day drainage requirements in the community. Aging and undersized infrastructure present technical and fiscal challenges for maintaining a fully functioning drainage system. Sometimes existing structures and infrastructure are at risk of flooding concerns in these areas. Cities can often benefit from a comprehensive look at the existing conditions of the city’s drainage infrastructure and the proposed improvements needed to meet the city’s current drainage development requirements.
Learning Objectives
This presentation will discuss some of the common drivers of a citywide master drainage plan. We will discuss the different types of plans utilized by various communities, the software modeling options for the development of master drainage plans, and the unique tools and deliverables.
