Synopsis
The 1D/2D and 2D features within HEC-RAS models are becoming increasingly common for managing and regulating floodplains. Within certain counties, publicly available models are required to perform Drainage Impact Analyses and meet the NO Adverse Impact requirements. These dynamic models provide greater detail when compared to the 1D steady and 1D unsteady state analyses. This workshop aims to cover some fundamental features that are critical during the feasibility of a development project. Subsequently, the applications of 1D/2D models for such projects in achieving no adverse impacts will also be discussed.
A large focus will be on the applications of the 1D/2D and 2D unsteady modeling approach for development projects to assess impacts, tips, and tricks to fix impacts along the 2D mesh. using the rain-on-grid feature of offsite inflows. The goal is to help breakdown the fundamentals such that complex projects can be tacked by making use of the features offered within the 1D/2D space that reflect physical conditions.
