Provivienda Office Tower
Engaged by the developer, Walter P Moore provided structural engineering design services for this office tower. The building utilizes post-tensioned concrete slabs and wide-shallow post tensioned concrete beams to maximize clear spans and minimize structural depth. Wind and seismic loads are resisted by efficient concrete shear walls at the building core. Additionally, a nine-meter below grade basement provides parking spaces in two basement levels. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2016. Provivienda, the developer, plans to move their offices into this building. While the building was under construction, the developer also purchased an adjoining lot and retained Walter P Moore to design a standalone parking garage which connects to this office building. Increased number of total parking spaces also allowed the developer to increase office space by adding one level of typical floor. The foundation and lower levels of columns that were already built were found to be adequate. Some changes in upper level columns were needed to support additional level of office floor.
