Pittsburg State University Masonry Repair
Founded in 1903, Pittsburg State University is an aging campus graced with several beautiful historic buildings. Walter P Moore’s engineering and masonry expertise resolved the distressed conditions after conducting a comprehensive assessment of the historic brick, limestone, and terra cotta façades of six campus buildings. Well-versed in the unique conditions historic buildings often present, we prepared detailed construction documents to address the distress conditions of the masonry. Repairs were designed with sensitivity to both the material properties of the existing building fabric and to the aesthetic results of the intervention, providing long-term repair solutions that respect the historic appearance. Our project team worked closely with the owner to prioritize repairs, helping the University to maximize available funds and also to prepare preliminary budget and scope for future phases of work.
