Walter P Moore congratulates Larry Griffis — our most celebrated and nationally renowned structural engineer — for his 45th anniversary with the firm! Austin friends and co-workers celebrated with him at one of his favorite local watering holes, presenting him with a framed and signed commemorative poster.

One of the nation's premier specialists in wind engineering, Larry has literally written books on the subject and contributed to the U.S. wind standard building codes. He is a pioneer in the design of retractable roof stadiums and has been a beloved mentor to many developing engineers over the years (one of the things he enjoys most). Larry's storied career has included many distinguished professional awards, the pinnacle being the coveted Kimbrough Award (the highest award presented for design innovation in structural steel) presented by the American Institute of Steel Construction. He has been honored as a Fellow to the American Concrete Institute, a Fellow to the Structural Engineering Institute, and was also named to the National Academy of Engineering.
