Jorge Martinez Honored with TSPE’s Young Engineer of the Year Award

The El Paso Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) will present its 52nd annual Young Engineer of the Year Award to Jorge A. Martinez, P.E. in February of this year. This honor serves to recognize Martinez’s technical ability and professional achievements, as well as his civic and humanitarian activities.

Jorge is a Senior Associate in Walter P Moore's El Paso office. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer in Texas with more than nine years of experience. He has contributed to a number of major engineering projects in El Paso including the Border Highway West Extension, El Paso Streetcar Project, and the Triple-A Baseball Circulation Study. "Engineers turn their imagination into reality," he says. "They help shape our world by solving problems and by making our lives easier." 

Jorge is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2008 and his Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 2010. An active member of the El Paso Chapter of TSPE, Jorge has served as chapter director and treasurer, and has also been involved in mentoring the Civil Engineering Senior Design teams for the past five years. In addition to being recognized as the Young Engineer of the Year by the El Paso Chapter of TSPE, Jorge is nominated for the State Young Engineer of the Year Award. 

 Fun Fact: Jorge is a certified yoga instructor.
