Dirk Kestner, PE, NCEES, LEED AP BD+C
As Walter P Moore’s Director of Sustainable Design, Dirk leads the firm in its endeavors to ensure environmental responsibility and sustainable design innovation and stewardship. Also the leader of WPM’s Sustainable Design Community of Practice, he has guided more than 40 professionals and delivered numerous presentations on sustainability for structural engineering at regional and national conferences. Dirk is the founding chairman of the Structural Engineering Institute Sustainability Committee, the foremost organization advancing sustainability in the structural engineering community. In addition, he has published multiple articles in STRUCTURE magazine and is a past winner of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lifecycle Building Challenge. Dirk is a professional engineer in the states of Texas and Georgia and is a LEED Accredited Professional/Building Design + Construction. He holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
